Jerkbait Souple (Soft-Plastic Jerkbait / Fluke): Rigging & Tackle Formula

• Weightless Texposed (0.3–1.2 m / 1–4 ft): Rigged dead-straight on a 3/0–5/0 Extra-Wide-Gap (EWG) hook (Gamakatsu EWG or Owner Rig'N Hook). On slack line after a twitch, the salted soft body glides sideways and shimmers horizontally as it slowly sinks.
• Belly-Weighted EWG (1.0–2.5 m / 3–8 ft): A 1/16–1/8 oz (1.8–3.5 g) keel-weighted EWG swimbait hook lowers the center of gravity, increasing casting distance in wind and giving the bait a pronounced belly-roll on the fall.
• Rod, Reel & Line: 6'8"–7'0" Medium or Medium-Heavy Fast action Spinning or Casting rod, 15–20 lb PE braid + 10–15 lb Fluorocarbon leader (or 12–15 lb straight Fluorocarbon). Unlike treble-hook hard jerkbaits, you need a Fast tip and stout hookset to drive the single 3/0–5/0 EWG hook through the soft plastic.
